Shaping Paws Up
Not only is this a cute trick for your dog to learn, it is also a great way to help them stay fit and can help curb their desire to jump up!
COURSE DETAILS
In order for your dog to hold one or both of their front paws up, they have to engage several muscles in their neck, shoulders, back and abdomen. Meaning, it can be a good workout for your dog to do this behavior!
Better than that, "Paws Up" is a really cute behavior for a dog to do and most dogs really enjoy doing the behavior itself. You can even weave it into your other training as a reward: do this other thing we are working on well and then we get to do the fun Paws-Up trick!
For those dogs who like to jump up or place their paws on you or something else, training this behavior can actually help to lessen them from doing so! Giving these dogs a proper outlet can mean they will do the unwanted behavior - jumping up or putting their paws on you - less.
In this 4-week course, we will outline how you can shape your dog to do a "Paws-Up" behavior and how you can integrate it into all of your training. Fun will be had.
